Just because you’re not half-naked on a beach somewhere drinking pina coladas doesn’t mean that you can’t have a lot of fun dating in the wintertime. In fact, winter is the best season for snuggling, whether it’s on a ski lift or beneath a blanket in front of the fireplace. Here are some ideas for winter dating adventures this year.

• Go skiing. Even if one of you is a newbie and you just take the bunny slopes, you’re still bound to have a wonderful time laughing and helping one another up. And if you’re athletes, you can make it into a competition for more fun.
• Try another snow sport. From roller skiing to snowboarding, if you haven’t tried it yet and you’ve always wanted to, why not do it on a date?
• Play in the snow like kids. Get bundled up and make snowmen and snow angels, throw snowballs at one another, or even build a snow fort! Try going to the park in the snow. It’s so different from playing there in the summer time.
• Enjoy something hot together, like a pot of homemade stew or some delicious hot chocolate. Gently simmer some shaved chocolate (you can tear up a chocolate bar for this easily, too) with some milk or cream for your own homemade blend. Add any spices you like and top with marshmallows or whipped cream. Salt is good thrown in as well.
• Enjoy something even hotter! If you dare, take a dip in a hot tub with your date. For something even more daring, try it outside!
• Make use of all of the indoor places that welcome grown-ups to play, from your local billiards place to Dave and Busters. Have a drink, engage in some friendly competition, and see if you can order something yummy to nibble on together.
• Read together by the fireplace or beneath a blanket. This is a favorite date of mine! Choose a sexy book, or simply a bestselling thriller that you can’t put down.
• Take a class indoors together, whether it’s for fitness at your local Y or for a hobby, from cooking to artwork, at your local community college. Many places host couples dancing classes this time of year, too, which can be lots of fun.
• Head over to your nearest gas station and act like goofballs as you concoct the wildest hotdogs or coffee potions! We did this just the other day and had lots of fun for just a few bucks.
